Kim Krushell's Full Biography
Kim Krushell was born in Windsor, Ontario on July 18, 1945. She is currently a City councilor in Edmonton's Ward 2. Together with her husband Jay and their son Alex, they have lived in Ward 2 for over 11 years. With that said, it should come to no surprise that she focuses her efforts on providing Edmonton's residents, especially youth and children, with life opportunities they didn't have previously.
Highly educated, Kim attended University of Alberta and got a Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies and has undergraduate degrees in Politics and History which she received from Southern Oregon University. It should be noted that she has spent the third year of her studies at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, as an exchange student.
During her early days, she worked at various places doing various jobs; ranging from bartending in her twenties to being an Assistant Computer Services Manager and an Assistant Librarian and later Reference Librarian.
Later she began focusing on her professional career as a politician. She was an Executive Assistant to former City Councilors Lillian Staroszik and Larry Langley. She held her position with Larry Langley for almost a decade, working from 1995 to 2004. During this period, Kim was able to learn about the ins and outs of the life at the City Hall. It has also helped her gain experience and knowledge of how the City is governed and managed.
Her contributions to Edmonton include the chair of Edmonton’s Next Generation Task Force, a team created with the purpose of creating suggestions for the City Council on how the City can improve itself as a place where young people would want to live. Along with Councilor Michael Phair she is the driving force behind the Child Friendly Edmonton Initiative. Her work with other Councilors includes working on Customer Satisfaction and Input Initiative with Karen Leibovici and many more.
In her personal life, Kim is a huge fan of science fiction and murder mystery novels. Loves watching movies and enjoys jogging. As all family oriented people, she loves spending time with her family, and loves skiing together with them.
