In this day and age, being without a car is almost impossible. This means that you either have money to call a cab wherever you want to go, or you have a personal driver, or if you’re even more rich – you have someone else do all your footwork. Whatever may be the case, it is almost certain that you own a car. Owning one car throughout your entire life may sound like a cute story, but fact is that all people change cars, and almost do it on a regular basis. It could be due to possible complications with the current car, such as performance issues, certain malfunctions, or a simple matter of taste, but people like to change their cars.
Changing a car is never that simple. You might want to go with the same manufacturer but different model, if the previous car has served you well, you might want to change it all together and go with a different manufacturer. Perhaps you would like to spice things up with a more powerful machine, with sportier look, or you would like to buy a family car, since you can’t actually fit your entire family in your Camaro. All these choices and yet, you only get to pick one. It isn’t easy, but some of the enjoyment surely goes into the purchase itself. Just like most of the ladies like to shop for clothing and shoes, a lot of the guys like to shop for cars, test them out, and in the end take one home.
While choosing a car might be fun, and an enjoyable task, you almost always end up wanting the car that is just way over your budget. So with this limit, people tend to end buying cars that suit their financial status, and not the one they actually want. Of course, sometime you might get a bargain at a car you actually did want to buy, or you might go for the cheap car not because you don’t have money, but because you just need a “means to an end” type of vehicle to transport you around, but usually, this is not the case. Usually you get what you pay for.
However, they are some exceptions; there are certain places where you could end up getting what you want for less than what you are willing to pay. While it may sound too good to be true, it just is, and a lot of people are not aware of it. In fact, one of the cars you owned previously might have been bought using the same method, and then resold back to you. If you haven’t heard about police car auctions, than you probably haven’t heard about the Edmonton Police Auction as well. Even if you do live in Edmonton and consider yourself to be a citizen who knows what’s going on in the City, you might not have known that information. You might have even heard about it, but are not quite sure about what to make of it.
To clear things out a bit, it should be mentioned that an auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the highest bidder. With that being said, car auction should be self-explanatory. However, police car auction might not. And to further explain the topic, you should be aware that there are thousands of cars being taken away from their original owners all the time. Some of them may have been involved in collisions or arson while others may have been written off by insurance agencies and may not be in roadworthy condition, while some of them on the other hand might be in mint, or near-mint condition.
These vehicles are offered on auctions due to simple, logical reasons, holding them further than necessary is too expensive for the government. All impounded vehicles are held for a certain amount of time, and vehicle owners may claim their vehicles up to the start of the auction by paying in full all outstanding fees. Because of this, the auction list is subject to change without notice. Most of the time however, vehicles that end up being listed on an auction get auctioned because no one picks them up on time.
Most of the people are not aware that these cars are offered for a very, very cheap price, since selling them actually benefits the government. Holding the cars impounded costs, while selling them bring instant boosts to the funding available. Those who know where to look can easily end up with a luxurious car at rather cheap, affordable prices.

So by simply heading down there on the mentioned day, you could end up with a car you always wanted, but didn’t have the financial means of obtaining it.
All cars can be viewed on auction days only, and only an hour before the actual auction, which starts at 1 pm. It should be noted that it is the bidder’s responsibility to confirm age or condition of the vehicle, prior to the purchase. So if you don’t quite understand cars, it would probably be a good idea to bring someone with you who does. It might be your mechanic, or a friend, or just someone you know who knows a thing or two about cars. It would be very bad for you if you bought a car you knew nothing about, and ended up paying more for the repairs the car might need than what you actually had paid for the car itself.
Buying cars is never simple, but with police car auctions it just might be easier. Even if you think it’s not, it might be a good idea to head down to the impound lot and check out the cars, talk with some people, and see how auction goes. And even after you actually purchase your car, it might be a good idea to head down the lot every time an auction is held, because fact it – you can always sell your car and buy a new one. Perhaps with the same amount of money you got for your old car. You just have to look, be patient and know a thing or two about the cars.
